Award-winning journalist, renowned author, consultant for motion pictures, and sportswriter Bob Halloran. He began working for WCVB, Boston’s News Leader, as a freelance anchor and reporter in 2003. In 2014, he was assigned to a full-time anchor and reporter role.

Before joining Channel 5, Bob worked as a broadcaster for ESPN, WFXT in Boston, and WPRI in Providence, Rhode Island. Bob worked for three years at ESPN as an anchor and a writer for ESPN.com. Also, Bob spent three years as the weekend sports anchor for WFXT-TV Channel 25 in Boston. Also, he worked as the Sports Director for five years at WPRI-TV in Providence, Rhode Island, and for four years at WCVX-TV in Barnstable, Massachusetts, first as the Sports Director and later as the News Director. Bob started his career as a news anchor and reporter at “Cape 11 Alive,” a Cablevision station at the time.

In addition to several other books, Bob is the author of “Count The Rings,” which details the first ten New England sports championships of the twenty-first century, and “Irish Thunder: The Hard Life and Times of Micky Ward,” for which he served as a technical advisor on the Oscar-nominated film “The Fighter.” In addition to “The Fellowship of the No Longer Miserable,” all of the proceeds from his other publications, “Impact Statement: A Family’s Battle for Justice Against Whitey Bulger, Stephen Flemmi, and the FBI,” “Breakdown,” and “Destiny Derailed,” benefit the Jimmy Fund.

Bob has received two Associated Press awards and two Boston/New England Emmys for sportscasting. He has been on the board of Hearth, a nonprofit group working to prevent senior homelessness, for ten years. Robert lives near Boston and is a Washington & Lee University alumnus. He is the delighted father of four children and is wed to Eileen Curran.
