Kelley Bayern KOIN-TV
In July 2018, Kelley became the morning meteorologist for KOIN 6 News. Kelley, who was born and raised in Seattle, earned a B.S. in atmospheric science with a minor in mathematics from the University of Washington. Her internship with Seattle’s KOMO 4 weather team, where she primarily worked behind the scenes in weather data and analysis, spurred her desire to work in front of the camera and pursue a career in broadcast meteorology.
Kelley worked as a meteorologist for KEPR Action News in Tri-Cities, Washington, for three years prior to moving to Portland. While there, Kelley provided weather forecasts throughout the Columbia Basin’s catastrophic icing occurrences and record-breaking winter snowfall. Her morning team received an Emmy nomination for their coverage of a quickly growing wildfire in the summer of 2017.
Kelley has an active lifestyle as a mountaineer and climber outside of work. She has reached the top of some of Washington’s highest peaks, including Mt. Rainier and Mt. Baker, and she intends to climb Oregon’s eight volcanic peaks.
