Josh Cozart KOIN-TV
In December 2022, Josh Cozart started working as the Saturday evening meteorologist for KOIN 6 News. Josh has lived in a variety of states over the years, from the Colorado Rockies to the Great Plains of Wichita, Kansas. Josh was inspired to become a meteorologist at a young age by the erratic weather in Kansas. After spending a stormy night in a tent as a fifth grader, my terror of lightning and storms swiftly changed into a curiosity.
Josh has been living in Oregon since the year 2019. He worked as the Chief Meteorologist at KVAL and KMTR News in Eugene, where he covered the weather in Western Oregon and received multiple nominations and an Emmy award. Josh spent time chasing storms and predicting the weather in Quincy, Illinois, before moving on to the west. Cozart began his career in 2015, while he was pursuing his meteorological degree at the Metropolitan State University of Denver, with the national weather network of WeatherNation.
Josh at KOIN 6 News takes pictures of the weather when he’s not forecasting it. There is never a time when you won’t see him out and about capturing pictures of Mt. Hood or the stunning scenery along the Oregon/Washington coast.
Josh is familiar with the Portland region. Cozart has been making a weekly trip to The Rose City since 2020, and his partner is actively involved in The Imperial Sovereign Rose Court of Oregon, a philanthropic organization that supports the region’s LGBTQIA+ community.
