In 1968, Moore started working for Channel 9 as a reporter. By 1972, he had worked his way up to the position of chief news anchor. He worked as an editor and reporter for two Missouri daily newspapers and United Press International before switching to television news reporting. The Missouri Broadcasters Association, the Kansas Broadcasters Association, the Missouri Radio and Television News Association, and the Kansas City Press Club have recognized his work in television news reporting and anchoring.
Most notably, Moore is a passionate vegetable grower and the author of “The 20 by 30 Backyard Garden Guide,” a personal gardening book. The book includes further gardening advice that reveals his technique for producing tomatoes that win awards. It was released by Universal Press Syndicate in 1978, but it is no longer in print.
Notably, Moore has contributed to the reporting of virtually every significant news event that has affected the Kansas City region during the previous 40 years. Included in this are the Plaza flood of 1977, the Coates House fire of 1978, the Hyatt skywalk catastrophe, the Republican National Convention in Kansas City, the plane crash involving Rep.
