Tomi Rae Augustus Lahren, a conservative American political analyst, and television host was born on August 11, 1992. She served as Tomi’s host on TheBlaze, where she became well-known for her “last thoughts” short-form video segments, in which she frequently criticized liberal politics. She was dubbed a “rising media celebrity” by The New York Times after many of her videos went viral. After asserting during an interview on The View that she thought women should have access to abortions on a legal basis, Lahren was fired from TheBlaze in March 2017.
She later began working for the Donald Trump-supporting advocacy group Great America Alliance, and in August 2017 she became a contributor for Fox News. Lahren applied to One America News Network (OANN) in search of an internship in political analysis; after getting a job interview, she was instead given the chance to host her own program. Her employment with OANN began after she relocated to San Diego, California. In August 2014, On Point with Tomi Lahren made its premiere.
She provided insight on the 2015 Chattanooga shootings in a video that went viral in July of that year. On August 19, Lahren made the announcement that she had finished her final performance with OANN. In November 2015, she relocated to Texas and launched a new program with TheBlaze. In a guest appearance on The View on March 17, 2017, Lahren said that women should have access to abortions and that it would be hypocritical for her to support both “limited government and also government limits on abortion.” Glenn Beck, the anti-abortion proprietor of TheBlaze, condemned Lahren for her remarks and suspended her with pay; as a result, Lahren sued for wrongful termination.
According to the terms of the settlement, Lahren preserved her Facebook page but took down videos she had created with TheBlaze. Lahren started working in communications for Great America Alliance, a branch of the sizable pro-Donald Trump super PAC led by Newt Gingrich and Rudy Giuliani, in May 2017. Tomi called her work there a “side gig” and stated she will go back to commentating on television. Lahren began contributing to Fox News in August 2017.
