Sean Desai Biography
American football coach Sean Desai is the defensive coordinator for the National Football League’s Philadelphia Eagles (NFL). He formerly held the positions of the associate head coach and defensive assistant for the Seattle Seahawks, making him the first coordinator in the NFL of Indian heritage. In addition, he’s worked as an assistant coach in the past for the Chicago Bears, Boston College, the University of Miami, and Temple University.
Sean started his career as a defensive and special teams coach at Temple University from 2006 to 2010. Up until 2011, when he joined the University of Miami, he worked as the Owls’ special terms coordinator. He worked as their deputy director of football operations while there. Moreover, he joined Boston College in 2012 as the running back coach and special teams coordinator. In 2004, he graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and political science and a minor in biology. From Columbia University, he also received a master’s degree in higher and postsecondary education. Desai graduated from Temple University with a doctorate in educational administration later that year.
Desai was also signed by the Chicago Bears in 2013 to work as Marc Trestman’s quality control assistant. He assisted the special team coaches and worked with the Bears’ linebackers and defensive backs. Thankfully, he was kept around by head coaches Matt Nagy and John Fox in 2015 and 2018. He began working for the Philadelphia Eagles on February 28, 2023, as defensive coordinator for head coach Nick Sirianni. Jonathan Gannon, who left to become the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, was succeeded by him.
