In the 1970s, The Lou Gordon Program from Detroit’s WKBD-TV was broadcast on a very small number of stations that were not owned by Kaiser Broadcasting. In order to cater to South Florida’s expanding Hispanic community, it was one of the first stations in the region to offer programming in both English and Spanish. WCIX had extensive cable penetration throughout Florida from the 1970s until the early 1980s, and it was seen on cable systems as far north as Tampa Bay and Orlando.
