In April 2015, Marisela Burgos began working as a reporter for ABC Action News. She cannot contain her joy about returning to Florida and being near to her family. She completed her high school education in South Florida before earning a Communications degree from Florida International University with a focus on broadcast journalism.

Her professional journey has taken her to Greenville, North Carolina; Louisville, Kentucky; and Indianapolis, Indiana television stations. She has met lovely people in every state and has enjoyed every encounter along the way. Her favorite North Carolina memory involved donning a sumo wrestling outfit at an Indians game in Kinston and wrestling a TV opponent/friend. She cherished covering the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Oaks and Thunder over Louisville in Louisville.

Marisela has grown to be a devoted follower of horse racing, and she hopes that one-day Jockey Joe Talamo will triumph in the Kentucky Derby. Marisela covered a range of stories that had an influence on Indianans when she was there. Her favorite memories include meeting IndyCar winner Dario Franchitti, covering the Super Bowl when it was held in Indianapolis, and taking part in the Indianapolis 500.

She won an individual Emmy nomination for two stories about car seat standards and testing, and she was again nominated in 2015 for her work the year before at FOX 59 News in Indianapolis. For her reporting on an officer who was slain in the line of duty, she was nominated for a second Emmy.
