American journalist Lynn Smith presently serves as an anchor and correspondent for HLN. She was selected to anchor Weekend Express in the fall of 2013, the network’s well-liked news and lifestyle program, and in 2019, she was promoted to host On The Story. Before joining HLN, Lynn was an anchor for Today on NBC-Early TV and First Look on MSNBC. She covered midnight breaking news for MSNBC at the time and was a stand-in newsreader for Weekend Today.
The previous year, Smith had worked as a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor for News 4 New York, a local affiliate of WNBC. She has been a general assignment reporter for Philadelphia’s NBC-owned station WCAU since June 2007. When she was given the opportunity to co-anchor NBC 10 Weekend Today on Saturday and Sunday mornings, her duties were increased in January 2008.
Before coming to WCAU, Lynn was an assistant producer for NBC-Today TVs before being given the opportunity to become a producer. In 2007, she received more responsibilities as a web correspondent for todayshow.com, and several of her pieces were featured on Today. She also worked as a contract general assignment reporter for Hartford, Connecticut-based station WVIT, which is owned by NBC.
Smith graduated with honors from Miami University in Ohio where she studied mass communication and worked as a writer for the school newspaper. After graduating, she worked as an intern at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles. She also joined the NBC Page Program in Los Angeles in 2001 and swiftly made it to the Today Show. She won the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Media Award in 2007.
