Biography of Joyce Taylor
American journalist Joyce Taylor, who has won six awards, is presently an anchor for King 5 television in Seattle, Washington’s Columbian district. The station hired Joyce in June 1988. She has coordinated interviews for morning show programming while working at the station and served as the principal morning LIVE reporter for Super Bowl 48 in New York City and Super Bowl 49 in Arizona. Joyce worked as a news anchor and reporter at CBS 4 in Miami, Florida, before she joined the network. Throughout her journalism career, Joyce has won numerous honors for her outstanding work.

There is no place like home, really! When I arrived in Seattle in 1988 after leaving North Carolina to start my dream job at KING 5, I was more aware of that than ever. I never would have dreamed that the Home Team would develop into such a strong family unit all these years later. The nightly anchor chair is now mine, and I feel privileged to be occupying it in the tradition of two previous coworkers whom I have long admired: Northwest legends Lori Matsukawa and Jean Enersen.

I’m honored to contribute to KING 5’s history of excellence in journalism and civic engagement. There are still a few of us who were employed by Dorothy Bullitt, the creator of KING. Because of her dedication, bravery, and vision, we owe her a debt of appreciation. Is the term “LOVE” overused to describe how I feel about the Northwest? Obviously not. With my twin, two brothers, and two sisters, I was raised in Tacoma. Education was a top priority for my working parents, and I had the good fortune to attend Western Washington University in lovely Bellingham. Vikings, go!
From there, I traveled east to Spokane, where I was fortunate to land a job as a weekday reporter and weekend weathercaster. I continued eastward and ultimately made my way to North Carolina, where I took a job as a news anchor. I never looked back after that.
