For her coverage of a tornado-breaking news story in 2010, Joleen was nominated for a Heartland Emmy. Joleen has received several honors from the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters.
She was also a member of the KFOR-TV crew that won many Emmy awards for its coverage of the Moore tornado in May 2013 and was nominated for an Emmy for a military feature about the recovery process and limb transplants of a veteran who had lost both legs in combat. Joleen completed the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon in April 2012, and since then, she’s raced several half marathons all throughout Oklahoma.
Joleen was a part of the first class of the “30 under 30 NextGen” honoring Oklahomans under the age of 30 who have made remarkable contributions to their careers. She presently serves as an honorary board member of the Children’s Hospital and organizes a fortnightly section called “A Heart for Kids” that highlights Oklahoma children who get life-saving surgery thanks to an endowment program supported by donations from The Children’s Hospital Foundation.
