Don Orsillo Biography
A play-by-play announcer for the San Diego Padres on Bally Sports San Diego and the MLB on TBS, Don Orsillo is an American sportscaster. Prior to this, from 2001 until 2015, he was the Boston Red Sox’s television voice on NESN. After Dick Enberg retired at the conclusion of the 2016 season, he was subsequently hired by the Padres to take over as the team’s announcer.
Orsillo attended John H. Fuller Elementary School before enrolling at Kennett Junior High School in nearby Conway, New Hampshire, when he was 12 years old. He graduated from Rancho Palos Verdes, California’s Miraleste High School after his family relocated. Don later enrolled at Northeastern University and earned a communication studies degree there. He also worked as an intern there for Red Sox radio announcer Joe Castiglione.
Furthermore, Don has been NESN’s play-by-play guy since the start of the 2001 season. Additionally, from 1994 to 1996, he worked for the Falcons as a play-by-play announcer and as a broadcaster for the Springfield Falcons during his time as a sportscaster. He not only calls the Padres, but he also announces MLB games for TBS.
