Asman is blissfully wed to Marta Cecilia, a Nicaraguan native. The couple exchanged vows in 1989. Marta and her son Felipe escaped a communist government that threatened to force Felipe into military slavery at the age of 15.
Through the then-Foreign Minister of Costa Rica, Madrigal Nieto, Asman helped Marta and Felipe obtain a lifelong visa to enter the country. After that, Asman moved them to America to begin a new life together. In July 1992, Martha gave birth to their daughter, Kristiana Asman. After receiving treatment in Queen’s Square, London, for her stroke while on vacation, his wife was flown back to the United States.

Furthermore, Asman co-anchored the highly popular After the Bell on FBN, which aired weekdays from 4-5 PM/ET. Asman anchored Fox News Live during the week while working at FNC. In addition to being the editor of the book “The Wall Street Journal on Management: Adding Value Through Synergy,” Asman was honored with the 1986 Inter-American Press Association’s (IAPA) Tom Wallace Award for his coverage of Latin America in the Americas column. Additionally, for his articles on free trade and the economies of Cuba and Mexico, respectively, he was awarded the IAPA’s 1992 and 1995 Daily Gleaner Awards.
Asman started working as an assistant editor for Prospect Magazine in 1978 and worked his way up to executive editor in just one year. George Gilder recruited him in 1980 to launch an economic journal for the Manhattan Institute. Asman has also worked as a consultant for the Ford Foundation on African organizations in the United States and as a radio analyst for Perspective on the Economy. In addition, he was the host of the public affairs program Issues USA on television every night.
