The American Meteorological Society certified Dallas Raines, an American meteorologist who works for KABC-TV in Los Angeles (AMS). He studied broadcast journalism and earth science with a focus on meteorology at Florida State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. Apart from that, Raines later taught geography at California State University, Northridge, and focused on weather.
Furthermore, before joining CNN to oversee its national weather coverage, Raines served as the chief meteorologist for the Louisiana television stations WDSU in New Orleans and WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge. He later left CNN to work as a meteorologist for KABC-TV in 1984, where he later rose to the position of weekend evening anchor. He moved to weekday afternoons 4,5,6, and 11 PM with David Ono, Ellen Leyva, Marc Brown, and Mitchelle Tuzee after a few years.
Among his honors is the Associated Press Award for Best Weather Segment, the Golden Mike Award for Best Weathercast, the Daily News People’s Choice Award for Best Weatherperson, and the Man of the Year by the America Cancer Society.
