For his early-evening work, Anthony shared the “Best Newscast” award from the Associated Press in 2000. Furthermore, in 2000, Anthony was chosen as Boston’s “Best Newscaster” by readers of The Improper Bostonian magazine. He also received the 1996 National Headliner Award and the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association First Place Award for Spot News Coverage, among many other honors. In 1990, Anthony started working as a general assignment reporter at WCVB’s NewsCenter 5. Anthony worked as a general assignment reporter and weekday news anchor for the 6 PM and 11 PM newscasts at WVIT-TV, the NBC affiliate in Hartford, Connecticut, before joining Channel 5. With KSPN-TV in Aspen, Colorado, Anthony started his professional broadcasting career in 1984 as a sports reporter and anchor. Later, he was appointed news director at KSPN, where he worked until 1987.

Anthony has been a longtime supporter, volunteer, and board member of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
