Rob has been contributing to NBC Bay Area’s weekday weather coverage and weekend weather predictions since 2003. Additionally, he creates and contributes to weather-related news specials, such as the distinguished “On Thin Ice” investigation into how climate change is impacting Alaska’s glaciers. The “Excellence in Scientific Reporting” award from the American Meteorological Society was given to “On Thin Ice” for “highlighting the relevance of climate change to future impacts on the San Francisco Bay Area.”

Off-camera, as an ABC News production assistant for “20/20” and “Primetime Live,” Rob’s career in broadcast news began. Later, he worked on news special projects that were also aired on CNBC at the local news assignment desk at KNBC in Burbank.

Rob worked at KIRO (CBS) in Seattle and KCRA (NBC) in Sacramento before settling down at NBC Bay Area, where he spent three years as a morning and weekend weather anchor. Rob worked as a reporter and weather anchor for KESQ in Palm Desert and Palm Springs as well as KSBY in San Luis Obispo.

After earning a Master of Science in Geosciences (Meteorology/Geology/Hydrology) from Mississippi State University, which also listed him among the Top 100 outstanding alumni in 2016, he joined the American Meteorological Society and received the AMS Television Seal of Approval.

Rob is a guest instructor for San Jose State Meteorology when he is not broadcasting for NBC Bay Area. He oversees the department’s broadcast meteorology minor program and helps Cal State East Bay in Hayward with its meteorological-related courses.

His volunteer activity in the community includes serving as a former board member of the Lupus Foundation of Northern California, serving as the emcee for the annual 5K Walk/Run, and traveling to Washington, D.C. with the Lupus Research Institute to speak about lupus at congressional hearings.

He assists LupusLA at events throughout the year and was recently recognized in 2015 with the LFNC’s “Top Media Ally” award at the annual Purple Ribbon Gala.
