Marc Brown Biography
Children’s book author and illustrator Marc Tolon Brown hails from the United States. He has won three Emmy awards, and the television series “Arthur,” which was based on the novels, was ranked first on PBS for three years (1997-2001). From seasons 10 through 25, Brown also worked on the program as an executive producer. He is presently a Hingham, Massachusetts, resident.
As a child, Brown heard many tales from his grandma Thora. In the latter years of his life, he was motivated by this to create his own stories. His grandma encouraged him to draw, which he started doing at the age of six. His art instructor Nancy Bryan at McDowell Senior High School introduced him to watercolors, which he currently primarily employs for his illustrations.
Marc was also able to major in graphic design at the Cleveland Institute of Art with the assistance of his grandmother. Despite the pushback from his coworkers, Brown persisted in pursuing his goal of becoming a children’s book illustrator.
Brown worked in a variety of professions before concentrating on his writing career. He worked as a short-order chef, a TV art director, a truck driver, and lastly as a college professor. He said that after only one semester of employment, the college declared bankruptcy, ending his professorship.
