Before the leaked WikiLeaks documents were made public, the Donald Trump 2016 presidential campaign, including Donald Trump Jr., had access to them, according to a 2017 CNN story by Raju and Jeremy Herb. The story was withdrawn after it was discovered to be false. “I won’t hold my breath for an apology, or for you to call out your puppet masters on the left that fed you BS knowing you would gleefully run with it without ever checking the other side,” tweeted Trump Jr. in response to Manu Raju following Julian Assange’s criticism of CNN’s article. CNN, however, declared that since Raju had adhered to the network’s editorial standards procedure, it would not take any disciplinary action.

When Raju revealed a stock trade in January 2017 that put Tom Price, President Donald Trump’s candidate for Health and Human Services, in jeopardy both legally and ethically, it became a huge news story. Although fact-checkers verified Raju’s account as true, the Trump administration demanded a retraction.
