Afterwards, she began presenting Seven Days, Left, Right and Centre, Reporting Scotland and Scottish questions for BBC Scotland, then moved into the Breakfast Time, presenting team. The Lockerbie disaster was first covered by her in 1988. Her production company wark Clements & Co produced many programmes in the 1990s including Restless Nation, Building a Nation, Words with Wark and Lives Less Ordinary.

She was one of the presenters who covered the 2021 UK election results alongside Huw Ewards. On October 19, 2023, BBC announced that Wark, who had been presenting Newsnight since 1993, would stand down after the next general election.
