The morning meteorologist for the FOX8 Max Weather Centre is Emily Byrd of FOX8 WGHP. She was the host of the pet-related television program “Project Pet.”
Early in life, Emily Byrd started learning about the weather by listening and watching for thunderstorms on the front porch. She started to become fascinated by the behavior of the atmosphere at that point. Growing up, she never had any other interests save studying the weather.
She would get up from the dinner table every night at 6:16 p.m. to watch Frank Deal provide the weather on WGHP. He always had a joke and a report from “our man” to offer. Rich Brenner gave the signal to return to the dinner table and finish eating after Fred Blackman and Cynthia Smoot conducted the newscast. Are those actually their names, Emily wondered as two newcomers, Neill McNeill, and Van Denton, joined the squad.
Time has a beautiful way of providing us with the answers we seek, and she had the privilege of joining the WGHP team in 2002. Walking the same halls as the folks she grew up adoring is a lot of fun, and being a member of the FOX8 Family makes her job tremendously satisfying and rewarding.
