Chris Wragge Biography
Famous American newscaster Chris Wragge is currently a co-anchor at CBS 2 New York. Together with Mary Calvi, he hosts the station’s This Morning and Noon. Wragge was formerly a co-anchor of “The Early Show.” Wragge completed his high school education at Mahwah High School, where he was a devoted sports fan. A public land grant research university, the University of New Hampshire, awarded him a football scholarship. Wragge obtained a Bachelor of Arts in communications after graduating and plans to work as a professional sportscaster.
After graduating from college, Chris started working as a sports reporter for WMUR-TV in Manchester. He worked as a stand-in anchor and reporter for Connecticut’s WVIT-TV. He also worked until 1997 on the nationally syndicated entertainment program Entertainment Tonight. In 1998, Wragge advanced to the position of sports director and anchor for News 2 Houston, a nightly sports newscast that aired on NBC in Houston, Texas. He also started working as a presenter for HGTV, Travel Channel, and ASK DIY.
From 2003 to 2004, Wragge covered the PBR’s Built Ford Tough Series for a number of NBC broadcasts. In 2004, he then went on to replace George Michael as a play-by-play broadcaster. In November 2006, Wragge later shifted over to CBS 2. Chris began his career at CBS as a sports anchor for the newscasts at 5:00, 6:00, and 11:00 p.m. Later, he changed careers and became a news anchor, covering important occasions like the arrival of Pope Benedict XVI to New York and the 2008 presidential election, among others.
