Carol Patricia Smillie was born on 23 December 1961 in Glasgow, Scotland. She is a former television presenter, actress, and model, rising to fame in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Smillie became widely known as Nicky Campbell’s assistant on the UK version of Wheel of Fortune (1989–1994). From 1996 to 2003, she was the main presenter on BBC One’s home makeover show Changing Rooms. After leaving the Glasgow School of Art, she modeled throughout the 1980s. Her television break came in 1989 with the Wheel of Fortune audition.
Post-Wheel of Fortune, she worked on BBC’s The Travel Show and Holiday, eventually becoming its main presenter.
