Amber Alexander Biography
Since December 2015, American meteorologist Amber Alexander has been employed with WHO13’s First Alert Storm team. Alexander was a reporter and a meteorologist at KNOP in North Platte, Nebraska, before she started working for WHO-TV. Amber earned a bachelor’s degree in meteorology and climatology from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
Alexander held the positions of director of activities for the Nebraska Storm Chase Team and secretary of the American Meteorological Society. She also spent two years as an intern at the state climate office.
Amber’s first on-air experience came while she was reporting for Star City News, a student-run news program at UNL. Additionally, she worked as an intern at KETV in Omaha, Nebraska. Alexander has always enjoyed storms, but it wasn’t until she was in the sixth school that she truly found her calling in meteorology. When she went on her first storm pursuit expedition with other students in April 2012, she encountered the first tornado of her career in Solomon, Kansas.
