Adam Claibon KING 5 | Seattle

In Seattle, Washington, Claibon is a morning meteorologist for KING 5 News. Adam started working on KING 5 Weather in October 2020. He is eager to see everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer and is happy to call it home. His passion of weather began when he was a young boy while living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, through the bitterly cold and snowy winters.

His interest in the weather really grew after moving to Montgomery, Alabama, where violent storms and tropical weather became more common. He decided to pursue a meteorology degree because of this fascination.

He began his TV career at WBKB in Alpena, Michigan, where he served as Chief Meteorologist and won the Michigan Association of Broadcasters award for Best Weathercast. While there, he made more than his fair share of winter weather predictions, which, to be completely honest, he found exhilarating. Adam distinctly recalls covering the terrible winters of 2013–2014, which nearly resulted in Lake Huron freezing over, and February 2015, which was the coldest month in Alpena’s recorded history.

His next position was WCIA in Champaign, Illinois, where he worked for two years and got important experience covering severe weather, including the biggest December whirlwind outbreak in Illinois history on December 1, 2018, which featured 29 verified tornadoes. The fact that none of those tornadoes were directly responsible for any deaths that day is even more astounding. He likes to go hiking, play sports (or anything competitive), eat, and volunteer at his church in his free time.
