Retired basketball player, general manager, and coach Willis Reed Jr. has only relied on sponsorship for all of his playing careers. In the Lincoln Parish in Louisiana’s Dubach, Reed was born. He was raised in Bernice on a farm. His parents put a lot of effort into giving their son the greatest education possible. Despite only being domestic and industrial laborers, his parents were able to enroll him in the public schools in the area.

He played baseball, football, and basketball, and shot put for West Side High School by the tenth grade, and he also participated in track and field.
