Let’s start rolling with Jermaine’s tale like butter. As the Weekend Sports Anchor/Sports Reporter, Jermaine Ferrell joined the WFXR Sports staff in August 2015. He was appointed Sports Director of WFXR in January 2019. Jermaine held employment in Richmond, Virginia, and Wichita Falls, Texas, prior to starting at WFXR. He has worked in broadcasting for about 20 years. For Jermaine, major occasions are nothing new. In Texas and Virginia, he has covered a number of high school state championships. Additionally, he covered Virginia Tech, Virginia, Liberty, and Radford Universities, the ACC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament, and the First College Football Playoff National Championship Game from Arlington, Texas.
Jermaine also covered the CIAA Football Title Games, the NCAA Division II Softball Championships, the Washington Redskins Training Camp, the MLB All-Star game in Washington, D.C., the Virginia Tech Women’s Basketball runs in the WNIT, the Big South Baseball Tournament, the Big South Women’s Basketball Tournament, the Big South Men’s Basketball Tournament, the Big South Men’s Basketball Tournament, the Atlantic Sun Men’s Basketball Tournament, and the NCAA Division III College World Series.
Jermaine is a devoted native of Roanoke. He completed high school at Patrick Henry. In addition, he spent over eleven years in the American Army. Jermaine managed the finances when he was a member of the military and paid thousands of soldiers through our military pay program.
