Flavio Briatore was born in Verzuolo, Italy, on April 12, 1950, to Glacomo Briatore and Caterina Chiotti. His parents were both elementary school teachers. Flavio achieved the lowest grades in his land surveying diploma. He got lucky and got a job as a ski instructor, and he eventually worked as a restaurant manager. Later, he created his own restaurant, Tribula, which flopped horribly and caused him to close it.

Benetton selected him as a director of Benetton Formula Ltd after he competed in a Formula One race. He was able to turn the team around and make it competitive, even winning numerous titles. The Benetton Formula team was bought out by Formula One and eventually acquired by Renault, which renamed the team Renault F1 in 2002, with Briatore as managing director. Despite harsh criticism, he performed his best on that team. After being found guilty of race-fixing, he resigned from the team.

Briatore developed his own investments and ran a few enterprises while still employed, most of them were tied to fashion. He also runs a number of nightclubs in Sardinia and Marbella. When Klum became pregnant, they divorced, and she began a new relationship with musician Seal. She denied Briatore was the child’s father after giving birth, blaming it on the seal. The child’s name was Helene Klum. In 2008, he married Elisabetta Gregoraci, and their first kid was born in 2010.

Flavio Briatore was found guilty of multiple crimes and sentenced to six months in prison, which was eventually reduced to one year.
